The visual contrast level of the thumbnail — how much the colors, brightness, and elements pop against each other. Measured by AI visual analysis.

High-contrast thumbnails stand out in crowded feeds where viewers are scrolling quickly. Low-contrast thumbnails can blur together with the page background, especially on mobile where thumbnails are small. But contrast must serve clarity — too much contrast without composition looks chaotic.

Each value below shows two numbers when available: Regular/Shorts is the effect on a typical video, and Top 10% is the effect on videos in the top 10% of views (from a quantile regression). Use the Top 10% column to see factors that disproportionately help videos that go big.
